About Lizee Nuñez Love, LMFTA

Hi, I’m Lizee Nuñez Love, a relational, attachment-based therapist. I believe that problems arise and heal within relationships. Often, we do our best, but sometimes we feel stuck, unable to break out of unhelpful patterns. I work with adult individuals, couples/partners, and families to identify and shift these patterns, creating lasting change. My approach to therapy has been described as validating, curious, and infused with humor. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe enough to laugh, cry, and build meaningful connections with yourself, your partner(s), your family, and the world around you.

Therapeutic Approach

In addition to pursuing a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy, I have received advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) and completed Level 1 and 2 Gottman Method training. My master’s internship was focused on Medical Family Therapy, which equipped me to support individuals and families navigating caregiver burnout and the challenges of chronic or terminal illness.

I specialize in working with marginalized identities, including LGBTQ+ individuals, people of color, and neurodivergent individuals. I also have a particular focus on sex and attachment within couples and partners, as well as medical family therapy. I’m deeply committed to helping clients navigate these sensitive areas with empathy and understanding.

Ongoing Supervision

As a provisionally licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I receive supervision from Melissa Callahan, LMFT, AAMFT Approved Supervisor to support me in the clinical treatment of my clients.

I offer virtual sessions to clients throughout the state of North Carolina.

“Relationships in life don't really end, even if you never see the person again. Every person you've been close to lives on somewhere inside you. Your past lovers, your parents, your friends, people both alive and dead (symbolically or literally)--all of them evoke memories, conscious or not. Often they inform how you relate to yourself and others.” ― Lori Gottlieb

My Story

I am multiracial (Black, White, & Hispanic) and a member of the LGBTQ+ community. My experiences of both privilege and oppression inspire me to work toward systemic change in and outside of the therapy room. I am supportive of neurodiversity, kink, and non-monogamy, and I embrace a sex-positive, anti-racist, and culturally humble approach to therapy.

When not working or home-working, I enjoy video games, snuggling my pets, and traveling with my spouse. I also love creative activities — playing flute, singing, or painting.
